anyone who can help with ideas or opinions is greatly and truly appreciated...with that said
I decided to stay n/t and put a set of stainless steel headers on my car. When removing the bolts from the stock manifold, two of the heads busted and I was stuck with two bolts left in my block. No problem, had my buddy drill into the two bolts and took them out of the block. then bored new holes. Bolted up manifold and downpipe, car ran perfect. After about 5 minutes of driving, my check engine light comes on.
I get to work and my girlfriend of all people notices something hanging down from my car. The 02 sensor from the manifold became disconnected from the plastic connector and broke. So i replaced the 02 sensor and respliced the wires on the side opposite the 02 sensor, so the wires i spliced were red, black, green, white. The 02 sensor wire is the normal length because i was sure that they operate based on resistance then relay the info to the ecu.
I went to start my car the next day and the battery was dead. So i jumped it and the car wouldn't hold an idle at all. If i let off the throttle, it would die. On top of that, the car when running for 3-4 minutes, has a rotten egg smell coming out of the exhaust. I noticed when i started doing all this, the battery wouldn't hold a charge. I removed the negative side of the battery and the car still ran, which means the alternator is fine. So I started thinking it could be the ignition, I replaced the spark plugs and wires. Car still runs bad. Checked the splicing of the wires and the 02 sensor, connection is perfect. So i tried to get the check engine light code, and nothing will appear at all. When the car is running, the battery and check engine light come on. Their is also a rotten egg smell out of the exhaust and a very light white/milk color smoke along with what smells like gas that isn't being burned, not a lot of gas, but enough to get a swarm of mosquitos to hang out around it. Checked the manifold bolts that were drilled to make sure the water jacket wasn't hit and no water at all, holes look perfect. Checked the cat converter to see if it was clogged, looks fine, doesn't turn red hot or any color at all when running. The only thing left that i can think of is the ECU. I was gonna have one of my buddies bring it to his shop unless someone could help me out here. Anyone with any knowledge or opinions is greatly appreciated.
