the tensioner bracket was bent on me and proceeded to do that till i replaced it...
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.

i've got the same problem man. The tensioner pulley on my car does not even cover the whole width of the belt. It always leaves .5cm of belt without the pulley even touching it. I'm still trying to figure out if my afx pulley is not aligned or if its my tensioner pulley bracket is bent.

Check Alignment... If it looks aligned then look for obvious things that could be rubbing it. Also if you over tighten it, it well break... If you under tighten it, it could jump on you. I’ve broke thousands of alternator belts when going around corners and gunning it half way through turn. It torqued engine so much that it mess up alignment and throws the belt.
