#52152, "PLEASE, answer this!!"

Sup guys.
OK, this is a seperate post, coz I just can't figure this out.
Please guys. give me positive inputs here ok.
I am thinking.

HOW THE F**K I TAKE OUT THE ENGINE??? TOO HEAVY.

OK, my situation is this. Autozone don't rent Engine Hoist.
And the closest is 14 miles away. Now,
The Engine Hoist is 200LBS...and all I have at home is an eclipse, and a regular sadan. ... How can I go and rent it and bring it back??? (can't tow it) my car doesn't have that thing at the back.

NOW, I DID THOUGHT, can I just take the engine apart inside the car and at the end, ends up with just the block, and by then, I can take the block out (without the lifter) ???? IS IT POSSIBLE???

Please guys... I really need all your input ok.
I will start in 2 hours after work. I need to konw if I can get the GOD DAMN ENGINE OUT.

Thanks.
Gil.

you could take take the engine apart in the engine bay and probably move the head and block yourself, but might want a second person to help lift things. Engine hoists do come apart and you could cary 200 pounds in a car.

Engine lifts come apart -- but they are heavy. Its much safer especially if you are working by yourself... I'd see if it would fit (in pieces) in the sedan.

2003 VW GTI 1.8t.. I used to have a 95 Eclipse but well...water sucks.

I would find a friend or neighbor with a pickup or something.. Maybe they'll be nice enough to let you use it.

the way i did it was:

i disassembled the engine as much as possible/ took off the head, radiator and fans, oilpan, ac compressor, crossmember, clutch slave cylinder, crank pulley, timing components and whatever else.
i made sure i had taken the oilpan off before i removed the side motor mount so i got a piece of 2x4 and put it on my . i made sure all the pistons were at the same level(all at midpoint)and jacked it up so the board was across the block.

then when i was ready to drop the block i put a bottle jack under the tranny to make sure it was supported. then i had my brother hold the block and keep it balanced on the jack while i removed the tranny to block bolts. then we slid it away from the tranny and slowly dropped the jack. as long as your car is up fairly high you can slide it out between the wheel hub and front bumper, if you have the splash guard on you'll have to remove that too.
then we just attached it to engine mount stand, lifted it up and slid it into the engine stand.
