#5188, "Catalytic Converter Bypass Valve?!?"

hey i saw an ad in the parts trader that advertised a cat bypass valve. you install it after your header, and i guess one end goes to the cat, and the other goes (i guess nowhere!), but if i did it, i'd route a pipe to hook in to my cat-back. i was wondering if anyone had tried this, or if it would give any power gains whatsoever? thanks a lot!

No matter what people say, you WILL notice a difference without a cat convertor. The throttle response is better, my gas mileage improved (about 40 extra miles per tank full), The car sounds a lot more powerful }> but the car does smell like a gas guzzling chevy nova V-8. Some people say that their cars quit pulling past 6500rpms, All I know is with my limited mods I have it pulls hard all the way through the red line to the 7200rpm fuel cut and wants to keep on screaming!!! }> }> }> }> }>

then you can take it off the car and use a long screw driver or small metal pipe to break the solid block on the inside apart. Then you have to remove all the steel mesh from the inside walls of the cat. After that you can put it back on the car and you will pass the visual inspection if you have smog testing but you will not pass the actual smog testing. It is a lot louder with out the cat but I don't mind, I like it that way. Either way the high flow cat will help but the hollow cat is better (in my opinion)
