#51852, "GSX Exhaust for my GS-OZ"

I met a GSX owner at a local cruise-in/shoot-out tonight. After talking shop for a while and drooling all over his turbo, he revealed that he had just bought a new cat back. I saw the opportunity to get a hold of a stock 1998 GSX exhaust for my 99 GS emoji. I asked how much he wanted for it but he told me he'd get back to me after "checking some prices."

What I want to know is... how much is too much, the guy seems like good people but I don't want to get screwed. I'd love to keep my exhaust setup within the Mitsu family but I don't know how much I should expect to pay. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Any problems in his exhaust I should look for that would be a reason not to buy it?

Thanks.

And thanks again to all those who replied to my ealier message. I'm obviously going to go with the exhaust unless the deal falls through in which case I'll get the UDP.

you could have it welded on..but for the prize you pay for the GSX exhaust and welding..you could easily get a GST exhaust and bolt it right up.

Well, here's an interesting update. The guy is letting me have the whole GSX cat back for $30 duks. That's right, thirty. It's a shame that all I can use is the muffler! And get it welded on at that.

Why doesn't the GSX cat-back fit our rides? Is it the out-diameter of the cat that is too small or are the bends not compatible? Does anybody know the in and out diameter for the stock 2gnt cat? I've gota set of GReddy headers w/downpipe feeding into my cat and they look 3 inch diameter to me.

i believe the bends are not compatible because it is all wheel drive and thus has to move around the drive shaft. you could probly sell that catback gsx for more than 30 and make a profit, just a thought though. later.

Look under your car...see where that exhausts goes? GSX's have a driveshaft there.
