I was just gonna shorten the factory one and re-torque it, then I read a vfaq on arp head studs and if my factory one is stretched(which is a safe bet w/95k on the car) then I could blow the gasket even faster. so I want to just get an arp and do it "right" so-to-speak. __________________________ ...just my $.02 95 GS

Yeah you can take it off from just having your valve cover off. I tried it a few days ago. Actually its kinda weird, in an erlier post someone said that #7 was the only one you can take off without removing the cams but actually you can reach all of them. I went in and removed the #7 and grinded off the bottom of the bolt but it seems to have made the problem worse. I think what I'll do is go back in and loosen all the bolts and retorque them in proper sequence. By the way 7-10 are 20 lbs and 1-6 are 25 lbs.

in a nutshell.... the ones in our motor are designed to stretch, but only once, therefore they cannot be re-used because they will not properly torque down. if you re-use a bolt, you increase the chances of blowing your head gasket.
my plan: get one arp head stud(if they'll sell me just one), shorten it, and replace just the #7
if I can't buy just one, I'll get the whole set and either sell them individually to the guys here for the same purpose....or...if I can get to all the bolts w/out pulling my cams, I may just replace them all.
