I have a 98 talon and was thinking of bying some cams and could only find OBX cams. Can any one tell me if there any good or if I should get somthing else. Oh ya, how much power will I get out of some good cams. THANKS A LOT.
Crane and Crower make cams for our model car....both of those are pretty much the same quality to each other....I probably wouldnt recommend OBX for something like that...Id go with a company that has a great rep for a part like cams
Performance: Stuff that makes my car run better or go faster
Looks: Stock because looks doesnt make my car go faster or run better
Weight Reduction: CF Hood, No A/C or Powersteering Accessories, No rear interior
try crane or crower. i have crower 2's, 3500-redline goes by really quick. Idle is pretty mean and lopey and ur looking somewhere around 10 whp maybe more depending on ur supporting mods.
yeah, but obx makes everything from exhausts to coilovers to fire extinguishers. id rather trust someone like crane or some of the more well known ENGINE people...not another multi faucted company that makes lots of cheap stuff for the masses. that would be like buyin from APC lol
for stage 2 some things to replace are valve springs, retainers, lifters and rockers. I have the springs n retainers and possibly will do the lifters and rockers down the road.
Are you talking about CAM GEARS or actual CAMS? I've never heard of OBX making cams. They don't make any internal engine part at ALL as far as I've ever known. They make cam gears, but that's NOT what these guys are talking about.
Are you talking about these?
Or something like these?
If they look like the first picture those are cam gears, not cams. And when i got that picture I went through the OBX website, no mention of actual CAMS anywhere in there.
i was wondering that also but i knew OBX didn't MAKE cams even if they did sell them crane or crower or some other company would make them cams anyways..
Bill
from what ive heard the obx cams gears are good i have yet to hear anything bad except for people that rant they wont trust them..
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
I,m looking for cams not cam gears, even though a pair wouldnt hurt.I guess I will wait to find somthing else a little better,Im glad that I didnt get OBX now. Im not going to have enuff money to replace every thing for stage 2 so I guess its 1 for me. THANKS
I ran Crower Stage 2 cams for many months, probably closer to a year on stock valvetrain (Granted I don't put an obscene amount of mileage on her). But it is a good idea to upgrade valve springs lifter and rockers.
And yeah I'd stay away from OBX for cams, unless they had a reputable company doing the manufacturing for them.
