I'm installing a CAI & I've got 1 really quick Q... R U supposed 2 cut the passenger side splash guard in the engine bay 2 make way 4 the CAI filter?!?

I'm assuming "yes U R supposed 2 cut it," but I'd much rather make sure here B4 I cut it up.

Marked it as urgent cause I'd really really like a reply soon so I can cut it & get going... have plenty of time 2 do it (quick job).

P.S.
Loox pretty, thanx FasterGS!!!

Thanx 4 the help!

I didn't have to cut anything installing mine, but that's just because AEM does things right emoji

Ok, here's another Q then... I can C where I can "bend" the pipe 2 where it comes in behind the brake scoop just over the splash guard BUT the horn is there.

That means U either, right?:
1) moved the horn
2) cut the splash guard

Did no1 here cut the splash guard? Just move the horn? Makes sense, but it loox like there would B less "pressure" on the CAI 2 cut the splash guard as the splash guard is "holding/pushing" it up & subsequently bending my rubber joining collar (2 piece) which happens 2 B the AEM Air Bypass Valve (I live in FL, lots of water)

P.S.
I agree AEM is great, this was more bang 4 buck though ($20)

Thanx,

i never had to cut or move anything when i had my iceman system in. but now that i think about it, it might have been easier to get in if i had cut the splash guard back a little bit.

Well, it's installed... thanx 4 all your help/comments!!! I did NOT cut the splash guard, rather bent the horn bracket up, loosened the nut, & rotated the horn a little.

It's a tight fit in there. Didn't need 2 put on any support bracket since the splash guard was holding it up. But I am going 2 get a piece of foam or something 2 put Btween the radiator fan & CAI 2 keep from rattling.

Anyways, loox pretty (matches my paint almost, burgandy) & sounds even better... remembering the days of my Akimoto CAI on my 97 :: sigh :: may she rest in pieces emoji

Thanx!

Well, I was actually updating my sig while U were posting... just saying that I've now got the CAI along w/ the ever-so-controversial emoji AEM Air Bypass Valve.

I live in Sunny South FL, which happens 2 rain a whole lot during rain season... not so sunny emoji

If U don't know already, which I'm sure U do, the AEM Air Bypass Valve is a valve that U put in the middle of your CAI which purpose is 2 Xpell water from your intake B4 it gets 2 your engine if your filter Bcomes submerged in water aka sux up water in 2 order 2 prevent a hydrolockup of your engine (water in engine).

Reason Y it's so controversial is cause A) AEM had 2 recall early product Bcause the valve's filter would get sucked up in2 throttle body, now fixed B) Slight Decrease in HP, Sound C) Some think it's a gimic although there's been articles on it showing it's not.

Basically there's a hell of alot of water down here in South FL, so I'd much rather B safe than sorry.

Jason's intake looks nice emoji When I installed my Injen CAI, I came from underneath the car while It was jacked up w/o the filter, then when the two pipes were connected I put the filter on. Well have fun down there J, gonna miss you.

I just took off my air filter to clean it, and other than the noticable blowby I noticed a huge gash in my air filter from where it was rubbing against something sharp and metaly under whatever is left of the stock airbox, still havent figured that one out yet...

I don't really C what could puncture your filter there, the horn's not going 2 do it & that's all. Must've run over something sharp I guess. I've got my plastic brake scoops removed & meshed over (gutter guard along w/ main scoop), loooooox pretty emoji

Here's a promo 4 gutter guard:
MESH your front bumper scoop & brake scoops (if plastic removed)... it takes 1 and a half pieces of $3 gutter guard @ Home Depot, so U & a friend can do it 4 $9 2gether. All U do is drill four holes & zip tie it (I used black ties, can't C it). IT CATCHES EVERYTHING. Let's C, I've caught walmart bags, paper plates, tons of bugs, leaves.... never have 2 clean your radiator off again =D

Mike, well... if U don't mind living by the inlaws emoji Our house is listed 4 $89k. I'm paying $360/month @ 6.5% on 30 year, w/ 20% down (No PMI). If U were 2 put nothing down, U could prob Xpect a mortgate payment of ~$650 @ 5.5% on 30 year. That's a guess, but a good 1 B'ing that our parents could prob get 4.x% right now.

well the thing is I can actually SEE what owned it, its like a 2 inch long gash where it rubbed against something sharp which I actually cut my hand on, its a part of the car under the remains of the factory airbox, not sure what it is.

HMmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, nothing there but space 4 me... the CAI piping rubs up against the radiator, which I still have 2 add some foam or rubber 2 stop it. But my filter is "suspended" in air directly Bhind the drivers' brake scoop, nothing but air there 4 me. The only remains of the stock airbox is the small bit directly underneath the fuse box. Sux I'm sure.
