I haven't read into the 2.4 swap too much since it's out of my league, both downtime and money-wise. SO this might have been discussed before, but I was just curious. What about swapping in the 2.5L V6 from the Avenger/Sebrings into a 2GNT? I was checking the oil in my mother-in-law's car last night and noticed a lot of the engine layout is the same. Even the intake tube looks 2GNT! I'm not a big fan of auto trannies but maybe the chassis would accept the swap since if using the whole engine/tranny combo you could use it's own front crossmember and the oil pan would fit and all that? Hey, like I said, it's just an idea. I kinda liked driving around in a V6 last night that felt like my car on the inside. (Too bad they have a shitty turning radius, huh!) Thanks for the input!

Yeah is would be possible, I have seen an avenger with the mitsu 3.0 engine in it along with a pic of an eclipse with the same 3.0 engine in it. No clue on how hard it would be as there was no break down, just the pic.

If it was ps, it was one hell of an awesome job. I looked legit, but you can forget turboing or supercharging it, the engine bay was jammed pack as it was, no why you could fit it unless you don't like your hood being there.

That is an old post....I was lookin at one of the dudes car in there it was weird looking...it had a Avenger rearend...and Talon front end with an eclipse hood...but it looked like a Neon body.....im confused
Performance: Stuff that makes my car run better or go faster
Looks: Stock because looks doesnt make my car go faster or run better
Weight Reduction: CF Hood, No A/C or Powersteering Accessories, No rear interior

The engine compartment is about the same, between Avenger and us. And the 2.5L and the 3.0L use the same mounting. So if you're doing it use the 3.0L.
Now will it just bolt right in? Not sure, the actual mounting points to the body may be different and need to fabricated/welded. But it should fit. You'd want all the hardware from an Avenger with the V-6.
Be prepared to spend time rewiring things, and you probably will need to switch over to the V-6 Avenger instrument cluster unless you tap the right leads coming into the wiring harnass... The gauges are slightly different. You might get most of them to work with no problem but then again there might be problems. I would check part numbers from a dealer on the wiring harnasses between the two cars. See if the V-6 interior matches the 420A interior. You'll have to rewire the engine bay, but if you have to start messing with the interior wiring harnass it could get messy.
I'll try to remember to check engine mounting next time I'm up at ERT. I think it's the same to the frame, but I don't want to give you a definate yes.
