#5083, "Next Mod Advice Needed"

Anyone out there willing to give advice on my next mod please do!

My current mods: AEM CAI w/ bypass, FU & RU STBs, also modified the throttle plate to make it open fully.

My next step, a GS-T muffler or PaceSetter Catback

My goal: First of all not add a turbo, other than that, this is my daily car and am looking to start getting experience in the DSM world without spending too much $$. I'm looking to increase the performance and handling, but mainly for street use. I'm not looking to really spruce up the looks that much although I wouldn't be against it for a reasonable price tag.

I have done a bit of auto work/mainly maintenance and trouble shooting (although that has included changing a header or two) myself in the past, so I feel confident in work that I do.

My larger project will start in a year or two when I go all out and buy a different car in addition to my Talon... That is where I will have all the fun w/ turbos, etc...

Please list your opinions on what my next mods should be with aproximate prices and levels of difficulty (I want to do it all myself).

Thanks much all!

Matt

I'd say an AFX Under drive pulley should be a mod to take into concideration they're only about 160 bucks at www.ptuning.com it's one of the few mods that will give you a good bang for the buck.

I see that you don't have one on yours, are you planning on it? Do you know anyone who has? What's with all this talk about the AFX squeeling?

Definately the AFX UDP, belt squealing is a matter of belt tension, belts do stretch when they do retension...

Timing belt should be done every 60k.

I suggest the GS-T muffle rover the Pacesetter cat-back, Pacesetter quality is questionable. I know people don't like them but I do suggest a header.

Find a used throttle body and send it to Howell Automotive and get it bored out to 55mm.

Thanks for the advice! What's a good price tag for a GS-T muffler with about 25,000 miles on it?

Re: the TB, where can I find a decent used one?
If I have the TB bored out, does anything have to be done to the Throttle plate, or the intake manifold to realize the improvements?

Thanks again!

Caio

find a wrecked talon or eclipse at a junkyard. i talked to one and they said if i could get the shit off the car i could have it for like 10 bucks! now that is a deal. normally it is like 50. make sure if it is wrecked you dont go get one that has stress fractures or anything. check it over real good before you pay for it.
