Rear Main Seal

I'm going to be changing it and I am just wondering if there is any tricky part that I should know of and also, if there is any special tool needed.

Also what else would you guyz recommend doing while my tranny is off. I certainly can't rebuild it and the clutch is fine too. But as I'm approaching 120k I'm worried that the throwout bearing might go bad sometime soon. Would it be a good idea to change it now? if so, any tips or suggestions?

you also mentioned front bearing/hub assy in your topic thing... those are a pain, but probably not as bad as RMS.

i've got to do mine again friday (piece of shit only lasted 2 weeks!!!) just make sure that you torque it properly (i didn't and apparantly that's why it went out). i'm not sure what the torque specs are but if anybody knows them it would be great, not only for me, but for the person above (sorry, i didn't pay attention to the name) DarkOne's site doesn't have it, neither does Juggalo's.

actually I already changed a passenger side hub assembly. It was pretty easy the hardest part was for me to take the axel nut off. It was rusted really bad and stuck on there for good. Other than that I borrowed 2 types of pullers from autozone... one to take apart the upper control arm and the other one to take the axel out of the hub. and I didn't have any torque specs back then either so I just tightened it reasonably and its been working fine for 50k miles.

The TQ specs are in the factory manual for those wheel nuts, is that what your asking for? I think it was in the 200ftlb area, but DON'T QUOTE me on that... If you are asking about the wheel nut torque post and let me know, and I will look tonight. Or you could just call the dealer and ask, they have that info.

Rear main is no prob, just pulling the tranny is the pita but you get used to it...
