I just purchased a 1995 Eclipse GS from a girl who said she had blew the motor in it. I only paid $500 for it.

Anyways, I took the motor out and replaced EVERYTHING. New pistons, seals, etc... Even the water pump. The motor is like new and its running great.

As of right now, I've only got $1000 invested in the car, and I really feel like I could do a lot more with it. I've rebuilt older NA cars before (my 82 Camaro Z28) but I'm totally new to computerized turbo engines. Any suggestions for some performance upgrades that could net me an extra 10-20hp?

So far, I'm looking at a cone air filter w/ aluminum intake, which from what I've seen on these boards, is a good first upgrade.

I was also thinking of aftermarket exhaust. I've also heard that the muffler off a turbo eclipse GST would help. Suggestions?

And finally, I was looking at performance chips, such as the Jet VForce and http://www.nextlevelracing.com/stage1.htm G-Box. Any opinions on these two items?

Personally, I would just go with an aftermarket catback, Apexi or Greddy and a highflow cat, along with a Greddy or equivalent header

Don't waste your time with aftermarket chips, they don't make a difference, something to the effect of our factory chips override the aftermarket ones with the original settings.

If you want a real power gainer, go for an AF/X or Unorthodox Under-drive pulley, they are good for power, you could also try a board throttle body, and some head work.

Please excuse my retarded half-asleep ramblings, I should have worded that better. The Eclipse I have is a non-turbo GS, not a GSX. I only meant that the whole concept of a computerized car that I could put a turbo on is new to me. Everything else I've ever owned has been pre-1982 small block Chevys. The Eclipse is a completely different animal than a Camaro or a Nova.

Yeah, a better air filter is good. I have the GST exhuast - love it. Do NOT bother with the chip shit. Your car will only learn that you're trying to fool it and revert to its normal programming. Welcome to fully computerized cars.

I will tell you one thing. If you're really interested in modding your car then you've definately come to the right spot. A year and a half ago you could have heard me say something like "Computers don't belong in cars". I've changed my mind. Lots to learn.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to point out. There's plenty to do with our cars N/A. Read around - pistons, rods, cams, ss valves, springs, retainers, clutches, LSDs, strut bars, tie bars, the works. Lots o goodies floating around. Plenty of people on the board are turbocharging them as well. Depending on what year you have there is a bonifide ECU upgrade from Howell.

2GNTs are alot like a Nova... there's a motor, 4 wheels, a tranny... Seriously though, the big difference is we are pretty much boost junkies here. I think the best time here all motor is somewhere in the 15s. On the other hand, there are quite a few guys here in the 12s and 13s with turbos.

Edit: I might mention, with the 8 injector setup we can maintain good gas mileage around town (unless you go into boost) You can't do that with a blown 350 stroker.
