#49566, "Code 12 what do i need to check???"

I don't have a check engine light on, but when i do the key dance i get code 12. I see that code 12 means: direct power input to the PCM has been disconnected within the last 50 key-on cycles.

Any ideas on where my problem would be, or what i need to do to fix it?

jeff

but that's just it....
i haven't disconnected the battery since about 6 months ago..

I ask this question because I have crappy hesitation. My car will just shut off at random.

i've changed plugs, wires, fuel filter, cleaned intake/throttle body, changed pcv valve, and still this.

I just don't know, satan said something about the idle control sensor. Could that be it?

possibly, but youd only have trouble at idle, not driving...and plus youd get a code for the iac if it was shot. and a code 12 is just what they said and is not to be blamed for any problems...

just to put you at ease, ive always had the code 12 as well, regardless of how long ago the battery was diconnected. i think its a pretty common thing for that code to not "work right".

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:

If you're getting a code 12 and you haven't disconencted the battery in a long time, and your car shuts off and random, you need to check your charging system: battery, battery terminals, alternator, etc.

ok i'll look at that when i get home from work.

The code 12 isn't really the problem. The problem is that my car dies on me at totally random times. It happens at idle, while accelerating, while deaccelerating, it just does it whenever. However I do believe like you said that it is definitely an electrical problem, not fuel related.

Thanks for the help

jeff
