O.k., the car died a week ago, I tried to start it up, and it just made this grinding noise...so far I've changed the following...

1. Spark Plugs
2. Spark Plug Wires (MSD)
3. Coil (MSD)
4. Battery (Blue Top Optima)
5. Starter

...just did the battery about 20 min., and it's still giving me this darn screeching/grinding noise...any other ideas of what it might be (it is a manual, so if it could be a clutch/transmission problem...throw that in too)??? I read a post of a similar problem...and something about some relays in the car...like under the radio, could be (where are those located, and what should they read?)???

Thanx guys!!! emoji

Does the motor turn at all?

If not, then it could be a damaged/stripped flexplate or blown up clutch to the point it destroys the flexplate... The starter, if it is not engaging the motor (which is through the toothed flexplate) will just whine, or grind on whatever its touching.

That was my next thing to do...I figure I should just get it towed to a transmission shop and have them take a look at it now...come to think of it, last month the clutch did feel like it was taking a few extra seconds to engage...maybe I just burned it up to the point it doesn't grab anymore?

any idea how much they may charge to replace them...parts and labor included?
