i know a guy who will sell me his hotshot headers for 200, does anyone have any experiance with these? performance? installation any hard? also it has a "flex down pipe"... what is that? i've searched in the archives and it sounds like a good thing but i have no clue what it is.
J99rs (and other pacesetter header owners) i read you have pacesetter headers and it sounds like they've worked out for you and you get decent bottom end as well, plus the price is pretty reasonable. would you recommend them? how do they perform? i have an automatic so an increase in bottom end would help as well.

Hello! I have a 99 GS A/T and Im geting the pacesetter headers and have heard great things about them. One thing I would like to know is--Does the black paint chip off very quick?

Hotshot headers in my car (auto) slowed down off the line since its 4-1 design. It may have made a slight improvement in the upper rpm range, but its NOT worth it in my opinion. But if you want a faster car, every bit helps...I would get an intake, underdrive pulley, exhaust, before the headers though.

at this moment i have an intake, gs-t exhaust, ngk plugs and magnecore wires. i;m going to be ordering the pulley soon but i was just curious about the headers. i think i'll end up going with pacesetter just for the extra power all across the band. sounds like you cant go wrong with it. thanks for the info.

yeah i like my headers. i would go with the ceramic coated ones if i had to do it again. the black paint burns off the first day. couple small things tho. first i had to get a shop to put mine on because they didnt line up exactly right and needed to be heated and bent down about a half inch. second the flex joint that is on them is cheap and it sounds funny. im gonna buy a good flex joint and have it put in. they are cheap so its no biggy. all that said i am glad i got them cause they helped the bottom end on my auto more than any other mod. greatly improved the driveability aem cai pacesetter headers gs-t exhaust red altezzas rims, tires, and a bunch of other little stuff....that list is way too short....more will come!

hotshot are the biggest pieces of shat!!!, min didnt line up at all with the cat,, ended up having to pull the exhaust closer to the front of the car,, now my tip touches the bottom of the back bumper,, plus since they are 1 pece u ahave 2 remove the crossmember, radiator fans,, eyc.. to get them on

Huh? Hotshots are two piece headers. It's 4-1 design and comes with a flex section. Its really easy to install since its two pieces and the flex section allows it to match up with your stock exhaust easily. Hotshots are better than pacesetters quality-wise. They are ceramic coated and look a lot better than painted pacesetters. Performance on the two should be about the same, but the pacesetter's 4-2-1 design will give more low end increase, less top end. Most racers say to go for 4-1 like Hotshot has...

i got mine used and the guy welded the pieces 2gether.. shoulda mentioned that,, but needless 2 say i still think they are garbage, but still might be better than pacesetter

j99rs I have a Ceramic coated Pacesetter headers Currently its working pretty well for me. I my opinion the Afx pulley and the ps headers are pretty much the same power wise. When both combined they give a pretty good/better pull at 3K-6.5K. (Good for the streets - interstate Use. My Rs easily reaches speeds of 75-85 cruising speeds no problem :> . If you do purchase a ps header get your self some better heat treated bolts like a grade five or better -- Auto store couple of cents.. oh! yeah be prepared to do some drilling to elongate the header slots.Mine did'nt really excatly fit. Possiblly remove file down some metal slags. (It does work -- regardless of its looks). Use some hi-temp silicone sealant (use sparingly ) for minor exhaust leaks. May want to order from Summit i've got mine for $250.00 If you don't deal with the hassle than just get a pulley.
