last night i installed my p&p tb and it had a very small gap in it < .75mm and so idle is a little higher but my problem is when i rev to like 4k it hits it then i let of and it very slowly goes back down to the idle spot it takes like 3 times as long and i'm AT just in case u ask but i have no idea y it does this, please help me

You said it yourself, you made a gap where to throttle plate closes. This will screw up your idle and the way your car revs down. Time to invest in a new TB, or send yours off to be bored.

ive ported the hell out of my stock tb and its fine.
the problem your describing sounds like your throttle cable is simply a bit to tight. you dont want any slack but if it has a little too much tension it will hold it open an extra millimeter or two for a bit like that. play with that and let us know if it cures the problem.

This is true, I gave you the worst case scenario. You need to describe what kind of gap you have, is it a small spot, or is it the whole throttle plate not closing all the way?

yea, check to make sure you dont have a vac leak, check your throttle linkage. i messed up my IAC somehow and had to replace it....

Even if the throttle is fully closed, if the plate isn't fully sealed then you'll have a pretty sporatic idle. As far as the RPM's decreasing slowly, if could be a sticking throttle plate or your TB cable is probably too tight. If the later diagnosis is fine, then I'm betting it's the leaking TB plate that's causing the problem.

bad tb i replaced the ported one w/stock one and bammo all better so i guess that very small gap messed it up way bad, i noticed it not wanting to slow down, very high idle(1300-2000), running very rich, and umm LOUDER, so thanx fastergs for all ur help

Having a gap allows more air in at idle, therefore raising idle and increasing time it takes to rev down because the air is stll coming it, t has the same effect as leaving the throttle plate slightly open.

And this is why I say get the TB bored. have it done right and get the bigger throttle plate.
