by not starting, do you mean it doenst even crank the motor?? If so, then check to see if you got that thick ground wire attached to the one big tranny-to-block bolt. Its on the wiring harness that connects to the starter. Be sure its on there and tight. It goes on the top tranny bolt, right above the starter kinda. I believe its a thick black wire with yellow stripe

stock clutch switch wiring: both wires connected together completeing the circuit= no start. both wires disconnected from each other= start

This is why you can start your manual tranny car without pushing on the clutch, when you just unplug the clutch switch wiring harness from the clutch switch..

The clutch switch wiring alone doesnt use a ground. The two wires make a complete circuit when they are connected together(clutch pedal NOT depressed. Then the circuit breaks(the two wires disconnect) when you push in the clutch pedal. So if you just unplug the wire harness from the clutch switch, the car will start without even pressing on the pedal(because the clutch switch keeps the two wires "connected" when the pedal is not depressed, which keeps the starter from cranking.

i did a tranny swap from auto to man. so i dont have a ready made harness connected to it. it is just two wires by itself on the clutch pedal switch...

ahh ok. Well auto tranny cars have a neutral safety switch, so the car wont start in gear. Where this is at, i dont know for sure, but that switch was prob on the old auto tranny, or in the center console by the shifter. If you have an extra wiring harness plug by your new manual tranny, than that may be it. Or look for a wiring plug in the center console. Most likely, if you find that, all you have to do is just put the two wires of the safety switch together(basically bypassing the switch that isnt there now. Or you can wire up your new clutch switch to that safety switch, so that works like it should. You shouldnt have to ground or wire anything really.
