#48902, "CV shaft (wheel end) will not come loose from wheel hub.. PLEASE HELP ASAP!!"
I'm pulling the engine today and everything was going smoothly till it came to removing the halfshafts. I was following the axle removal writeup and all went well... but neither wheel hub will come loose from the CV shaft. I've beaten them with a hammer... nothing. I even tried a wheel puler (almost broke the wheel puller trying to get it to budge). Did i miss something that is holding this together? I figured it might be a little tight, but this is insane. Thanx in advance guys... i really need to get this out soon do i can get the motor out.
Anyone know anyone who can help me tune this in the Pittsburgh area (Greensburg)?

Thanx for the quick reply. So there is nothing else holding it together? It's amazing how tight it's on. Any other suggestions... I'm gonna go back out soon and see what else i can do.

Your halfshaft is being held in by R-U-S-T. I couldn't get mine out intact, I mushroomed the end. I wound up getting it out by taking the hub and suspension arms off of the car, and holding a hammer against the end of the axle. I then hit the other end of the hammer until the axle came out. Pain in the ass. -=B-=
Dude, Boeing called. They want their wing back.

Yeah on a motor swap I did those ^&*^* axles would not come out. Rust heat expansions, all suck! I hated having to lift the motor around the axles, but it was the simplest way to do it since they wouldn't come out. I would rather pull them completely but you don't always have that luxury. You can try massive amounts of PB Blaster, a torch, if you can wedge a prybar between the HUD and CV housing (like I'm sure you popped the ends out of the the trans).
