I cannot get the throttle plate to open 100%. I can either get a perfect idle and 80% open plate, or a very high idle with a fully open plate. I do have cruise control, but I dont know if that could cause less travel in the throttle cable. The factory TB opened and closed fully just fine. Anybody have any suggestions?

There is a real problem with the throttle plate not opening all the way. When I datalog my car I noticed that the TPS does not show a fully open plate on its output. When I compared my previous runs with the new one with the 60mm TB installed, I noticed that at WOT my timing advance was only 15 degrees. Previously my timing advance at WOT was 20 degrees. My car used to hit 20 degrees advance and keep it there. I know that not having the throttle plate open all the way is hurting the potential of this mod.

What did you guys do to fix this?

Hmmm.. so basically the new 60mm TBs have more travel in the plate, and we don't have that much travel in the throttle cable? So therefore you can either have the plate open all the way, but not close fully, or it close fully and the plate not fully open?

Sounds like you need to get more length on the throttle cable. Couldn't tell you how though...

Yeah, it sounds like the plastic part where the throttle cable attaches needs to be smaller. Less cable to move it the full amount.

Thats what I was thinking... If I could move the cable attachment point closer to the pivot point, I could get more rotation with the same amount of throttle cable travel. I suppose I could drill two more mounting holes and just move and bolt it in.

But... I have heard that some people got their TB to work fine. And there was a few who had the same problem as me. So, I still dunno.

Well Tim thought his was fine, but he figured out that he was having the same problem. The people that think its fine probably don't have a s-afc or datalogger to tell them throttle position and all that.

If you have cruise control, there are 4 adjustments (not including adjusting the cruise control, or at the TB itself) that you can make to get your TB opening correctly.

Yeah i'd like to know as well.

EDIT: the throttle plate is about 85% open, because of moding the moon-shape cable holder. Thxs to Jamesman.

Alright, working from the TB back to the pedal...

You can adjust (if you have cruise control):

- the slider plate w/ 2 10mm bolts on it

- the output of the throttle cable junction (little black box in front of passenger side bolted to firewall)

- the input of the throttle cable junction

- and you can adjust the cable at the pedal itself by pushing the cable out of the pedal and put some locking washers into the indention in the pedal where it holds the cable then put the cable back in their and through the slits in the locking washers

OK.... I spent about 3 hours adjusting just about everything and I have made improvements. I would say that the plate is opening 90% to 95% now. I found a little slack in the cable that runs from the pedal to the cruise control box. I used some lock washers to tighten up the cable at the pedal. Good idea...

When my friend pushes the pedal down all the way, I can still open the throttle plate more with my finger. With my stock TB and before all the adjusting I did, I could hear the throttle body hit the open stop and the close stop when I pushed and released the pedal. Now that I have really tighened up the pedal I still cannot get this thing to open all the way. My datalogger shows the TPS and timing are better, but not as high as they should be. I am using a pocketlogger to view everything.

The car is much faster however.. So I will continue to find more ways to get extra travel in the throttle cable. I might even cut down the plastic stopper that catches the gas pedal when you push it to the floor. I still think that the cable end holder on the TB is the main problem. I am going to try and take some measurements from the stocker and compare them with the 60mm....
