I just wanted to know what to expect sound wise as well as performance wise. Will my exhaust be raspy? Will i have a nice bump in power? I have an aftermarket muffler, will it deepen the tone or make it ricey? Just wanted to know before i pick up the car. Thanks for any info.

It depends on your exhaust and mods. The more air your car is moving the less raspy it should be. My car is quite raspy when cold, but once it warms up my car sounds great. In fact one of the guys in my dorm came up to me and told me my car was the best sounding car he's heard in a while emoji I have a pacesetter catback (2.5")with an OBX B5 muffler, CAI, UDP. on the other hand, my friend Doug gutted his cat too and his is raspy all the time and he has cams, p&p head, CAI, Jeep TB, header, and exhaust. I think it may be the combination of the small exhaust piping restricting flow and the header, but he as an Apex'i WS exhaust.

As far as the gains, I dont know what to tell ya, lol. I did it the exact same time we put the UDP on my car so I dont know what gains came from the UDP and what came from the Gutted cat. Either way, my exhaust note is quite aggressive and when I drive it with anger it will shoot a flame out from time to time.

With the high flow cat on mine the butt dyno approves. As for raspyness, depends on your exhaust set up. Straight through or chambered muffler, resonator or no. You have just removed a large chunk of material that used to deaden sound... oh yeah it cleaned the air too emoji So one thing is for sure, it WILL be louder.

About to unclogged my cat this weekend hopefuly. Car smells like gas so Im thinking when I put in the 2nd engine all the crap that sat in the engine came out the exhaust and clogged the cat. I cant wait to hear what mine sounds like.

i love the way my exhaust sounds w/a gutted cat!!

i have stock piping, gutted cat, a performance resinator that the shop put on for me, and a banzi muffler (pretty much a straight though set up)

and mine sounds really good

ask chris, he's heard it, he's da man that sold me the muffler

btw chris, those coil overs i bought from you must have a curse that never lets them get installed or something... LOL

any how, if u wanna gut your cat and don't have emissions in ur state then DO IT!!

as far as power is concerned, i think it helps a bit... mostly in high end, it lags a little when taking off, but u get used to it
