#48029, "Modern Performance 60mm TB, SAFC, & A/F readings... interesting...HELP"

okay, so i smell gas the last day or so when driving, my buddy standing outside of running car says "you smell like your running rich".
SO... i go run it and see whats up and heres what i came up with:

I am running as high as 1.03v fairly consistantly (as high as 1.05 once or twice) A/F on CLOSED LOOP readings. I run as much as that at WOT, BUT, im not getting WOT like i thought cause the AFC says im only getting 75-77% open throttle and not 100% open. My High-throttle point is set to 80%.... so new TB is NOT opening all the way like i origionaly thought. shit!

So im runnig rich cause of the new larger(more air) TB, which is not opening all the way to let my SAFC adjust fuel trim at WOT because thats not being achieved.
**head scratch**

where are we with Modern Performance and the "not opening all the way" issue?
i need to address this little issue before turbo goes on this month...

so I am confused about all this... is there something in the construction that is prohibiting the plate from opening all the way?

How does the "pulley"(for lack of the proper term) on the Modern TB compare to the stock one?

Well our cars never really reach 100% throttle. When you datalog them they will only reach about 75-80%, that may be what its reading, but I dont really know how the SAFC reads throttle position.

The S-AFC will read 100% throttle, mine does. the 70-80% is just because different cars have different range on the TPS signal, and the software for ODB-II has a set standard, that doesn't match ours.

You could try with the key on but ignition off pressing gas a couple times, holding it down and the S-AFC should adjust itself. But that doesn't solve the throttle plate issue.

Okay, heres what i got...

throttle plate is DEFINATLY opening completely horizontal. SAFC is reading 0% when closed, 78% max when open all the way. I speculate that the flat beaver tail end of the throttle plate rod that sits in the TPS was not machined to the correct specs. i think that its to thin.
This is ibviously an issue for those of us with AFC and turbos/soon to be turbo who need to read correct fuel and throttle position to make correct adjustments. I assume that this is/could be an issue for the stock PCM fuel maps in the ecu as well, if its never reading a true WOT to open the loop up. 80% TPS is when the stock ECU opens up the loop, correct?

SO, whats your thoughts on this....???

and for the guys who arent gettin horizontal plate opening, i think you may have to remove (dremel, or we get MP to do it) some material from the valley that the cable sets in on the half moon peice in order to make the pivot surface area smaller, thus requireing less suface for the cable to pull against, giving the throttle plate more rotation for the same amount of cable used. does this make sense?

First things first, when the car off, and ignition in the on position, push and hold the throttle down, watch your S-AFC, it should adjust itself to see that as 100% Also do a sensor check and see what voltage the TPS is sending the S-AFC, should be about .5 or .6 volts at idle, and I'll check WOT on my drive home for you and see the voltage, unless somebody knows off teh top of their head.
