I just got the 60mmTB and I wanted to widen the manifold opening to match it (w/a die grinder, maybe?). I've read on here that a few people have done this, and since I won't be able to afford say, and INDY manifold until after I go turbo, I was wondering how you go about doing this. Is removing the manifold a very difficult process? After I widen the opening, how do I know for sure that there are no metal shavings in the manifold? how should I clean it out? Should I get a new mani gasket and if so, use silicon on it?
thanks guys, matt:thumbsup

Remove the upper intake manifold before porting it. Do not port it while it's still on the car. You'll need a new gasket for between the upper and lower intake manifold sections. I just picked one up a couple of days ago at the dealer for $7.

Yea it can be done in a day, it is just time consuming, I got a few suggestions on how to take it off, Best way is to jack the car, and use extensions to get those 5 pesky bolts off, but since Im a small guy I took out the bat, and washerfluid resuvoir and unbolted some standing up.
But realizing porting it will take some time, I put the thing back together, and will wait till my schools spring break starts, that way I cant mess up and be stuck driving the suv for a few days.

ya, i suggest to jack the front end up as high as possible, yo uwill need about 2-2.5 feet of extensions.. u may wanna wear glasses too, cuz the bolts will fall on you, and may hit u in da eye...
5 bolts, i think they are 10mm or 12 mm.... get a new gasket for betweeen the mani plenums, and a new t/b gasket..
when reinstallin, use a lil gasket sealer so you can sleep betta at night
good luck

10mm

The facotry service manual calls for no gasket sealer on any of the stock paper gaskets.
I didn't even use gaskets.. just black RTV. Holds up to 15+lbs of boost just fine..
