What do you have to do when installing new cams. Doug and I sat down and he was telling me that he spent almost 2grand on his head set up, and while I want to get the crane #16 cams for the car I really dont want to go all out at the moment cuz I can, I just got the timing belt changed about 20,000 miles ago when they switched the blocks, everything was changed except the water pump, which def needs to be changed since it has 70,000 miles on it. In other words, what would you guys think is necessary when changing cams

It's a good idea to replace lifters and rockers when doing it. Wether you need to change out valve springs depnds on how radical the grind the higher the specs the better the chance you have of needing better ones. If you can afford the adjustable cam gears by all means go for it.

At the very least upgrade to the PT lifters.

If you are going to do the springs, you might as well do the retainers, get a set of titanium ones and lighten up the valvetrain mass.

Yeah lifters are only $80 a set you should do them. I recommend upgrading to at least the PT rockers, if not up to Black Dog's.

Valves you can re-use, unless you want to upgrade to stainless steel or even undercut valves. It's all a matter of money. But if you are pulling valve springs, now is the time to replace the valves, springs and retainers. otherwise they will all have to come out again to replace any single piece.

ok, guys just one more question, will springs for neons fit our cars, because my boy just built the hell out of his head and opted to use crower springs instead of the mopar springs he purchased, which were listed for the neon. He isnt quite sure whether or not those springs will work, and if so can I use the neon retainers as well.

Don't use the Mopar's. I have heard they aren't good past the stock redline and also I have a seen a FEW posts over at the enon board with broken mopar springs.
