#47023, "o2 sensor stuck in negative...."

Anyone know if this means that my o2 sensor is dead? It never gets out of negative. The car runs, and when I get on it, it seems fine. At low throttle is has problems sputtering and what not. Can I clean my o2 sensor? I have disconnected the battery to try to reset the ECU just in case. I want to clean the o2 before I start it back up. I can not afford to replace it now. Is there another sensor that works?

Brynden

You can buy a 4 wire Bosch universal replacement for about $60. It's dead, Bryn. Cleaning it probably won't help.

Yeah, sorry to say it sounds dead.

I believe both front and rear are the same heated O2 sensor... you could probably cut and splice swapping the two... That is if the rear isn't shot also.

I had some friends (1g guys) tell me you can take a propane torch to your O2 sensor in an effort to "clean" it.

I didn't say anything in response to that theory, as I probably doubt it. You might want to give it a try for fun though.

I had a Bosch also. Went kaput in about 6 months. Matt_95tgs's brother's GSX had one too, that went bad in less than a year. IMO, go with the stock OEM replacement o2 sensor. Yes, its more money, but they last. You get what you pay for emoji

this may be a little off the subject, but on my ODB2 code reader it shows that my front o2 isn't working. my A/F guage works just fine though. could my 02 sensor need replacing? is a bosch, got it about 3 or 4 months ago.

Yes your o2 is bad, you will still see it working on your a/f guage but the swing/frequency of the swing isnt up to par. It will still work it just wont switch values/etc.. like it should . For example a good one will swing from .1vdc to .8vdc during idle maybe 10 times, while a bad one will still swing from .1 to .8 vdc during idle but only 5 times. its bad .

and brynden if yours is always negative its either really bad (which I dont think it will even get that bad where its showing negative, I think you might have some wiring problems.
What negative voltages are you seeing????

Maybe you have the polarity backwards on whatever your reading o2 voltage off of???

what are you reading o2 voltages on???
If its an safc thats your problem, mine crapped out this weekend causing my ECU to see o2 sensor voltages OVER 2 VDC, it was not a pretty site. Basically the insulation on that shitty wire is SOO thin and cheap that it allows voltage to leak from another wire when it gets wet causing a short. I had the map sensor circuit seeing bad voltages, the TPS circuit shorting to ground causing my tranny to go into limp mode, o2 voltages soo high I could drink the pure gas coming out of the tail pipe.

But I guarantee its NOT your o2 sensor.

I am reading the voltage on my A/F guage. I have a digital guage. Also I tried using my datalogger to see the voltage amd the o2S11 SHRTFT11 reads 0.000 24.2. Is that what you were wondering?

Id check the wiring to the guage, or hook up a voltmeter to the o2 signal wire to verify.

Seems to me that youve got a wiring problem, is the voltage swinging. ie does it go from -1 to -.1vdc or something
