#46672, "Just installed PT lifters....the Bullfrogs like em"

I just got my PT lifters today from Howell. Damn they ship fast. Anyway I love the new lifters - no more ticking lifters.

FYI - I noticed that when I was reinstalling the rockers that EVERY SINGLE one got caught up on the little hole in the top of the new PT lifters. I had to wedge the rockers toward the lifters, so they would snap into place. I've never seen mention of this anywhere, so I just thought I'd let you guys know about it.

My cams seem to like the new lifters. I actually have a minor loping idle now...and every once in a while it'll hickup like a real cam. I don't have that much overlap so it doesn't happen all the time, maybe like several times in a minute. But it does sounds really good at idle. I noticed a little bit of a gain as well, mostly in the midrange. I think those original lifters just were'nt up to the job, especially on regrinds. All of the rockers were noticablly loose when I went to take them out - but none of them were damaged. A couple of minor score marks on some of the bearings, but no cracks or siezed bearings.

I've always had ticking lifters(I guess its really slapping rockers for us) - ever since I bought the car. This upgrade was WAYYY overdue for me. Now the loudest ticking in the engine bay is from the injectors - but they're supposed to tick, so I can live with that. emoji

I want to thank Kris for kind of kicking my butt in gear to actually get these lifters. Thanks man emoji

How hard and how long was the install? You just took the vavle cover and the cams off right? Wouldn't you also have to take off all the same stuff that you would to replace your timing belt emoji

There is a screw driver trick to pry them out with the cam still in place. Kyle always seems to come up with the pictures on it.

I got them from Howell, for $100 shipped. The shipping was super fast, I had them 3 days after I ordered them.

Yeah, I just used the screwdriver trick - so no need to take of the timing belt or cams or anything. Remove the coil pack, valve cover - and there they are. It took about 2.5 hours from start to test drive.

Do you have to replace the rockers as well or can you reuse the old ones. Don't the revised ones have a larger hole on them as well? And does any one the price for the new style rockers?

I didn't have to replace the rockers. I did inspect them when I had them out. No cracks or breaks, so I'm not worried about them. The new PT rockers are beefier...but my money's kind of tied up in the custom turbo system right now. New rockers will have to wait for me.

I have Gude cams. Crane #16 looks like a good grind - you should go for it.
