ok, for the past month and a half, i've been driving without the heat shield on my intake(shield is on in the sig pic). so last night i took my filter off to look at some stuff under the filter....when i went to put the filter back on, i decided to put the heat shield back on too. i took the car out this morning and it felt like i had less power. does that sound normal? is it possible that the shield decreased the amount of air flowing into the filter/pipe? i don't think i even have a real purpose for it except in the summer when it gets real hot out. tia

Yes you used to have a greater surfac area pullign air in. Now you have a small gap to feed one whole side of the filter.
