I am going to try and explain this the best I can but it may not come out right. I am working on my intake manifold (but I think this would apply to other areas too) and my question is what part is more important to get smooth. Would it be the top of the runners (nearer to TB) because that will decrease the turbulence or towards the head because that's where it's moving the fastest or does it matter. Putting it in simplest terms I can.....say you have a tube running directly from the TB to the head and you have to put a bump in it somewhere which place would be the worst place for that bump to be? Also in terms of exhaust what would be more important a down pipe or a cat back (saying you can only do one or the other and it's a turbo car). Thanks hope that made some kind of sense
IMO the most gains that you would see with a turbo would be from a cat-back. however. I believe that a good quality/size downpipe can make a significant difference.

if u get a down pipe... get a 3 inch.....if u get a high flow cat...get a 2.5 inch...and if u get a cat back...get a 2.5 inch... i'll post a link to a web site that tells u what to do to get the most power gains outta a turbo

About porting, i don't know too much. But..Exhaust.. 3inch catback.. If this is a 2gnt, then search for a catback that fits a 2G Front Wheel Drive Turbo(Talon Tsi FWD or Eclipse GST). They will bolt up. The Apexi N1 or HKS Hyper's sound good. Do not buy a catback for an all-wheel drive DSM, it will not bolt up. Hope this can help a little.
