Hey everyone! I just found a used 420a for $300! I’m going to take it to a local machine shop to have the bottom end done. I really really don’t know anything about internals. So my question is what should i get done to this thing before i throw it into my car? Right now I am running a hrc stage 2 at 6 psi. I really want to get this new engine to hold 16 psi at least. Forged pistons and eagle rods from ram chargers are about 800. I would rather get them from a local place incase i have a problem. Performance oil pump 80 bucks. And the guy at RC's was tring to sell me an aluminum oil pan, good idea? bad idea? So besides that what do i need done? Should my stock camshafts be ok? Any recommendations on what i should do would be greatly appreciated!! 420a for 300 bucks.. gotta love Detroit salvage yards!

I would read up about it, definitly get an entire new timing belt, all tensioners and pulleys for the timing belt, and a full engine gasket kit. Buy the pistons, rods, Clevite 77 bearings (you will need to order one set of rod bearings and 2 main bearing sets). Hmm....
dum de dum dum.....8.8:1 JE Pistons, EAGLE rods, then go buy your turbo kit!!!! And i'll fill you in from there..IF you don't go the turbo route, (i don't know much about that) then i'd go 10.5:1 JE pistons, eagle rods, Cam Gears, Lightened pulleys, etc, etc.

well, i don't think you'll need a performance oil pump, or an aluminum oil pan...tha stock one's fine. i would just get the whole bottom end kit from howell. you don't want no name brand internals. you need all gaskets, and also everything else HiOnPsi said.

Read above....he's already HRC stage 2.
Go to www.howellautomotive.com and look at what's included in their bottom end kit. You'll probably want to buy everything that's included in that kit if you're not buying the kit itself. And don't forget a new water pump. You might as well replace it since you're in there. It sucks to get to it once the engine is together and back in the car.
You are not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your fu**ing post count.

cool! I already got a stage 2 hrc kit. Im going to get this engine built up and drop it in. then throw the turbo back on it. If i run 8.8:1 is that going to affect my engine response before the turbo spools? Rember, this is still my daily driver, not really an all out race car. I just want to be able to smoke all the people in thier mustangs that want to race me all the time. thanks!

BUT, if you want to turn up the boost - don't ignore your fuel system. If you only have stock injectors, you'll at least want to upgrade them(at the very least) before crankin up da bOOst.
