A guy I know in town here has just put in a new motor and a raised head (I think he told me), anyways, he has a ported and polished head, P&P by Mitsubishi, for sale for $75. Should I jump all over this, and how much power would I expect to get out of something like that?

Okay,
I sincerely doubt any mitsu dealer is in the business of porting and polishing -- BUT if it is true -- then it is an AMAZING deal -- ask for the receipt from the shop that did the work -- that will tell you what was actually done --- hope that helps.

I'll have to ask him, but that is what he said...if he can't show a receipt should I steer clear of this deal...I don't know him that well and my money could be just as well as anybody elses I guess...for all I know he could be selling me a stock head...

Even a stock head for $75 is a good deal...but are you sure you know what a 420A head looks like without it being attached to the engine / valve cover on there??? Not to scare you but there are a lot of shady shady individuals out there. If you don't know a lot of about motor parts -- I would be very weary about buying things out the back of a truck . If you would be interested...or anyone else for that matter...I actually have a stock head lying around that I was thinking about porting and selling if it were worth my time. So let me know folks.

Certainly don't buy site unseen on this. You'll be able to tell if it's P&P by looking at it... but if it's not.. $75 is still a good price for a stock one you can send out to get the work done on... As long as it's in good shape.

make sure u know what the shop knew what they were doing many porters can actually screw up or make the head flow less by improperly porting it..
but 75$ isn't bad a real race ready port job is 800$
You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.
If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good. If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast. If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
