>What are the benefits of this? (I heard better torque delivery).
Higher top speed.
>Instead of all that, can I just bolt-on the Neon tranny?
That is basically what you do. The Neon bell housing is a little different so you can’t use that part but the gear side is exactly the same. So you take off the bell housing and put yours on it. (It is and exact fit)
>Will this work in an AT?
Do you mean switch from AT to MT? If that is your question yes people on this board have done it. If you are asking about the AT from a Neon yes you can but I don’t know of anyone who has done it yet. I am looking for a good deal on a used one to start working out the kinks. It is a 3 speed and it doesn’t need a computer.
>Can I still do the "Final Gear Mod"?
By putting in a MT you have to go w/ a sohc Neon tranny to get the taller gears. It doesn't work like the final gear mod for the AT's.
>Will this be very dependable? Because my >sister's friend's Neon's tranny broke down >a few times, and it is only like 3 or 4 years old.
Yes it is the same tranny that all the MT guys hear are running. It’s a New Venture Gear 3500, just w/ taller gears.
