Is this the shift kit for our AT? Are all A604's the same? Is this the same part# as yours Corbin? I just want to make sure before I order.

Hey guys.. as all you AT guys know we really need our trannies to quicken up those lazy ass shifts. Will this kit quicken up shifts nicely or will it just stengthen the tranny? TIA

yes it will shorten the time that it takes the tranny to engage each gear, and it will increase the life of your tranny through less heat generated between shifts

Its not the easiest thing to install. I'd say read the instructions about 10 times before jacking up the car. Decide what parts and instructions really apply to your car. Then buy the drill bits and torx bits ahead of time. And write down where everything came from. Its easy to re-install the parts in the wrong places.

Arn't their two kits tho? A valve body kit, and then the "shift improver" kit, or are they the same? I've read where one requires the drilling and what not and where one doesnt. Can you clear that up for me before I go and get one.

I just bought the "A604/42LE shift kit" direct from Transtar. I paid about $20. It contains parts needed to modify the valve body. Follow the link in the original post and that should be all you need.

Yep...that looks like the right parts. I think the shift kit is mainly for tranny reliability. The final drive gears are helpful. But its only like a 5% change in ratio. I am very happy with the results...for the price.

Did anyone figure out which kit is easier? Or are there not two? because I know one requires some "dremeling" of the valve body. Which one doesnt, if there is one that doesnt. Id like to do this myself in a day/weekend but if it requires the dremel Im headed to a friends shop if he lets me emoji

thanks,
Joseph

Corbin - can you IM me on AOL at brohymn411 so i can figure this out? thanks

just get the one listed in the like above, its the right part number and requires simple drilling to open up some of the holes.
