#44552, "Building Spare Block Please Help"

Ok, my birthday is comming up on March 3rd. With my B-day money I plan on starting to build my spare block. I have been looking around for some good prices on parts. Has any one forund really exceptional deals on parts like Je forged pistons, eagle h beam rods, oil pump, bearings, gaskets, timing belt, tensioners, ect. Also what parts do reccomend? I am turbo and looking to run 12 psi daily. I know about the Howell kit but just seeing if thee are any better deals out there.
any input would be greatly apprecieated.TIA

the howell kit is the cheapest i found for everything, i have found pieces of the kit cheaper at different spots but then you have to add shipping for each piece. when i got mine from howell it was just the price no tax or shipping.

Check out www.blackdogmotorsports.com They have pretty good prices and have heard good things about them. Also, www.raceeng.com has good prices on engine parts. If you want some info on the howell block, contact matt_95tgs and he will give you the ordeal he went though with his pre-built block. Long story short, do it yourself, using a local machine shop. Much better places to spend your hard earned money than Howell and their under par business practices.

You heard their kit sucks?? Well the parts that they use for rebuilding don't suck, but I can sure testify that they themselves suck.

If you only knew the saga...I will NEVER, NEVER bash when its uncalled for. Matt and I are just tyring to inform others of what to look out for, and to not get SCREWED. I would hate to see what happend to Matt, happen to other board members. Not saying it will, just to educate. They have good products and parts (less one leaky ass pre-built "plug and play" block), but their business practices and customer service and def not where it should be, esp when you spend thousands of dollars with them emoji

It isnt about bashing so much as it is sharing experiences. If you take it as a bash, then that must mean that they didnt do a very good job. Did they sponsor the banner above your sig too? lol j/k emoji

I am goint to be building this block my self. I am just looking for a good place to buy the parts. To me is seems like howell has the best prices for the parts you get. However if they are going to dick me arround I would rather go elsewhere.

I'm working with them right now, 95ALLmotorFWD on the board has a block from them and I just mailed him to find out how he likes it. I sent RPM Extreme an e-mail asking if they offer just the rebuild kit by itself and they gave me a price of 998 for just the parts. But that doesn't include shipping. But if they can ship a whole short block for only 80 bucks then I don't see the cost on the rebuild kit being to much. They told me a 1 week turn around for the shortblock though and they have the parts to ship a rebuild kit in stockj and can get them out that day. But wait for 95All motorFWD to give some input on the actual turn around time since he has dealt with them....
