#44265, "High Comp Rebuild Vs Turbo"

I am planning on getting the 2.2L stroker, 10.5.1 compression, bottom end kit from Howell in the near future and was wondering if by putting this on my car, would it be faster than say a stage 1 or 2 turbo? I am going to get the turbo too but can't afford both at the same time so I was pretty much hoping that the engine alone would yeild good gains. What ya guys think?

ride in a turbo car...no contest. Also, you will need a bit better tunning with such a high compression. Less of a margin for error.

I think some one mentioned that its 4hp gain for every compression point? correct me if im wrong here guys.

running turbo on 10.5:1 is not very easy....
u need to tune the car a whole lot more then just slapping it together

if it was me id get the turbo rebuild kit for 1k send my block to the machine shop pay them maybe 500$ to assemble it save money for turbo or go custom kit...

the 2.2 will be nice, but u could save the money and go turbo and go faster....

or u can swap ina 2.4 and bore it out to 2.6 =P
that would be a fun ride

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

I'm not planning on crazy horsepower like everyone else is, i just need something to have a little fun with. As long as I tune it right it'll be fine.

hades i was a while back gonna do a rebuild on 10.5:1 but strayed away once i got into the 2.4 i wouldn't need to mess with it =P

you'll want to sue a adanvced way of tuning the car (other then the SAFC)

if u use the Greddy E Manage, an 8injector setup or a standalone and spent a good amount of time researching tuning and the way the motor works, you can do it 10.5:1 is NOT *that* high im comparison to other things...
