I have a big problem:check engine light on/huge lost of power/bad idling/increase in gas/mile. Anyone know how to solve this or have experienced the same with their cars? Answers greatly appriciated.

Could be alot of things; probably more serious than EGR. Better get someone to check the ECU for codes. Autozone may do it for free. After you figure out the codes, you'll have a much better idea.
