i have it with the magnaflow, the pacesetter is actually real nice for the price except the muffler, i got the magna put on and i noticed nicer power than the stock exhaust and sounded nice, but i want to get something better put on, i kind of want a gst muffler.

intake, 2.5 exhaust w/mangaflow muffler, pacesetter header, msd wires, ngk plugs, port and polish throttlebody, front and rear strut bars, 1.5' tenzo springs, 17" primax rims, kuhmo tires, leather interior, gsx sideskirts, BM shortshifter, GM fluid in trans...

The problem here is that there are mulitiple Magnaflow mufflers. The ones that are popular with us are the oval body (offset inlet/outlet) and the round body (like a resonator). The oval body uses a perforated tube core that is nearly "straight through". The round body is fully "straight through". The oval body gives a much more mellow sound and is my preference. Both will be pretty loud on a NA car (especially if you don't add a separate resonator).

The pacestter comes with aresonator, but is a cheap one. I also prefer the oval muffler. I prefer a chambered muffler to a straight through.

And a Magnaflow muffler is better than the GS-T muffler.

thanks for the info guys. im trying to get a pacestter exhaust and i want to change the muffler to a magnaflow since i always hear its a good muffler. but i want my exhaust not to be so loud ..hehe.. so does the lenght of the resonator make a difference in noise or so?
as you can tell my exhaust ( apexi ) gets alot of attention. and worst of all i live in ca..

Why would you want to go from the Apexi catback to a Pacesetter piping/Magnaflow muffler & tip?

If you just need it to be quieter, then buy a resonator or two that will fit you existing Apexi piping. This will definately quiet the system down.

Just to answer your question. I have the pacesetter piping and if you have the pacesetter muffler cut off at the weld, then the magnaflow will fit perfectly. The size of both mufflers are the same. You will have to spread the inlet piping on the muffler slightly to fit over the 2.5 inch piping. Here is a part number. I also got a stainless magnaflow tip.

2.50" Part# 11236

This also comes in a stainless version.....same size.
2.50" Part# 14336

You need the offset inlet/offset outlet to get it aligned with the least problems.

Part No. 35136
Size 4"
Length 5"
Inlet Dia. 2.5"

This is the tip I have. It welds to the end of the muffler and it nearly flush(sticks out .5 inch) with the rear bumper of the car. This is the perfect size/length you need.

There are some other nice stainless double walled tips, but they are mostly 2.25 inches and would not fit. Either that or the body was too long and it would stick out behind the bumper and give that ricer look.

I paid $122 installed for muffler and tip(tax included).

Advice: when they install the hangers on the muffler, make them raise the piping over the rear brace at least 2 inches. This is the perfect time to get the clearance you need. I previously had .5 inch clearance.

If you have a turbo on your car, then this will give a low V8 rumble. It is not that loud and sounds very good. I even have a test pipe/resonator. If you do not have a turbo(other people), then you will have to add another resonator to the existing piping to quiet the raspy sound. I think this is due to the thinner piping used from pacesetter......same as muffler shops.

so did you add a resonator to your exhaust setup now? overall how do you like how it sounds on our turbo car?
reason i want to get rid of my apexi ws is because alot of cops look at me funny with a SUPER big exhaust canister... look at my sig. and im trying to keep my car from the back stock looking as much as possible. also there are alot of people that think i want to race every dame time since i have a big canister.. hope you feel me dude... so thats why i want to go with the sleeper look, well sorta.. hehe... thanks for the info dude. im going to try and look for a duel tip i can add onto this muffler if so.

>so did you add a resonator to your exhaust setup now?

No, nothing was added to the existing pacesetter piping. It does have a resonator in the piping already. If you have a turbo, it will be just fine. N/A guys will probably need to add an additional resonator. I do have a testpipe. It is actually a 2.5 inch resonator with a surrounding 3 inch pipe.

testpipe.com took a 2.5 section of pipe, cut numerous slits in it and welded/formed a 3 inch pipe over top. It quiets the exhaust while providing no added resistance. My car does sound like a LS1 Camaro when I drive in vacuum......very nice.

>overall how do you like how it sounds on our turbo car? see above

I do not have any digital pics of my exhaust. Here is what mine looks like welded up. Imagine the outlet is offset on the muffler itself, but this is the exact tip. I also chose to get an aluminized muffler instead. Would have probably looked a bit nicer with a stainless like the one in the pic. Mine does look very clean and my welding shop made it where you cannot see any rear hanger as well.

as for me i have many compliments of the sound of my exhaust system. people been telling me that the sound of my car sounds like a true racing car and others tell me my car sounds like one of those WRC rally cars. i have the star kit down pipe welded to no cat to 3" piping to a 3" resonator to the 3" inlet/outlet dynomax racing muffler a custom made for $175. my car sounds real nice and gives me the perfect bass tone while i'm idling. pretty soon i'm posting up the sound of my car so you guys can hear it. but i'm happy with my setup.
