Today i drove my car around some and tonight i was leaving our local mall and backed out of a parking space and everything was fine but when i put the car in drive it clunked and now my automatic transmission will not shift out of second gear. I think i have burnt up my transmission. If anyone knows anything please tell me i need to know. I cant go any faster than 60 or i will be running 5500 rpms or higher if i go any faster. Do i need a new tranny and if so should i just change it to manual please help me out!

Thanks,
Matt

it sounds like your tranny is stuck in safe mode. Mine did this cause 2nd gear clutch blow. I had to replace it but it depends why u have to have the tcu codes scanned it find out if it says cade 36 its internal and therefore expensive. A quick idea for now is to turn your car off when it does this and u need 3rd. This should reset the tcu temporarily, like 30 miles at least on mine it worked.
