#43184, "cam gear settings"

well i have been playing with them a bit for the last week and can deffinatly notice a difference in the settings.. first was +2 intake, 0 exhaust....fair power gain, with the most power comming about 4k rpms, next i went +2 intake, -2 exhaust....power hit good but then flattened off around 5k and wasn't very impressive...finally i set it to +4 intake, 0 exhaust...this deffinatly made the most power difference....it came on hard at 3200rpms and pulls harder all the way through....i may go as much as +5 or 6 to see what happens....

How much was your setup? What grind cams are those?

the cams were $400, gears $229 and install $300....so just over $900 all together....they are the nitrous grinds...in hindsight...i should have gotten the drag grinds....but hey...close enough..

Well i went +6 with the intake cam...seemed like it was the same through 1st gear and most of 2nd....in the top of second and through 3rd is where i noticed the difference,....the pull was pretty insane...it really jumped from 50mph up..wish i had a dyno..

Hmm, I wonder where people got the idea to try those settings? emoji

It's good to see others are having the same luck with those setting that I have with my car. I did not notice a loss in bottom end power with the cam gears set to +4 intake/0 exhaust, and my 1/4 mile improved from about a 15.55 to a 15.41 emoji

well yeah, when it comes to timming, you have to sacrifice one or the other. Thats why trucks , and tractors are more torquey and a high perfrmance car is faster with higher hp. Some might even share an engine and it still feels like 2 different engines for that reason.

yea i didn't see any loss in power or torque either, it just feels the same as it did before but the gain in top end is deff there..
