#43101, "Ignition coil and numbering of the coil pins"
Jan-29-03 03:48 PM by Kiku

For the 420a 1997 I4 ignition, does anyone know if, looking at the ignition coil, what the pin 1, 2 and 3 are for?

I know that pin #2 (the center pin) is power (battery voltage). Pins 1 and 3 are for ignition of cylinders 2/3 and 1/4. What I cannot figure out is if pin #1 is on the left or the right of pin#2. Those who have seen the factory electric service manual, check page 8A-22 for what i am talking about.

Thanks.

I have the wiring at home from when I did the Ignition amp install. From memory pin on is at the front of the car, I can double check for you.

What are you installing that you need this?

Looking at the FSM, it doesnt say which wire controlls which pair of cylinders. The trigger wires for the cylinders are: BROWN and BLACK/BLUE. the black/red should be +12volts with ignition turned on.
