LAST EDITED ON 28-Jun-01 AT 02:03 PM (PST) Well..usually the major service is called the 60k. i use to take my 1G to Satan before I got my 2g. Then I started reading this post and started to learn things from the rest of the guys here. i realized i could do alot of this stuff myself. It saved me lots o money.
The dealer will tell you everything needs to be changed and charge you $400-600 for it. At 60,000 you might also want to change your timing belt, which cost an additional $400-1000 dollars not including the 60k maintenance.
This is what I remember it included: oil change, change air, fuel, oil filters, change PVC valve, drain and fill tranny, clutch, coolant, clean fuel injectors, change spark plugs, check idle, check battery, rotate tires, check brakes, repack wheel bearings, lube chasis and hinges, check cv boots and a couple of more visual inspection things. I might have left a thing or two out.
Most of this stuff you can change yourself. The timing belt is pretty hard to do but lots of members here have changed it themselves. I took my talon to my local shop for the belt.
Check with your owners manual to see when you need these things done- if you drive alot, stop and go-you'll want to replace stuff more often.
hope this helps
