looking at stuff on ebay for fun, ran across this, pretty convincing facts but then again i don't know that much about cars, and dont believe it would work but just want to check

Actually, I have heard of the ERam making around 3 PSI of pressure on a 420a. Not sure where I saw it. Not the same as a turbo, but definately better then the boat fans that are described. This is the real ERam and actually does something other then block the intake.

it's the best of the gimicy electric superchargers.. but I don't know how much gains you actually get from it.. the website claims some decent stuff, and doesn't make any overly wild claims.. one of those, never know till someone takes the leap of faith and tries it out kinda things.

lets see now..it gets powered from the alternator, which gets powered from the engine, and in turn this "supercharger" of sorts sends that power back to the engine. hmmmm..... (i know most of you are thinking..."well a conventional supercharger is powered off the belt", but thats different. this power is coming via electricity, not wasted mechanical energy...in addition, the huge draw in amperege could reek havok on your electrical system).

i dont care how much "boost" this supposedly makes, its still a restriction in the airpath and for 200 bucks you can make more power with better, more reliable, less likly to send bits of plastic into you intake manifold mods.

its all thermodynamics.

yeah i wouldn't buy it, i'll believe the part about a 1psi boost but for what it cost(on the website atleast) its not worth it. it says 5 to 15hp at the flywheel. so what would that be to the wheels? And it sucks 45amps from the battery when in use. thats way to much i think considering our alternators put out about 60amps. i say put it towards a turbo kit.

there is no such thing as 'wasted mechanical energy' when you are talking about motors.

I say it's bullshit. If these things made the power they said, everyone who likes fast cars would have one. I would spend my money on somethings proven (from experience) to give power (intakes, headers, turbo, etc.). However, the only way to be completely sure is to try it out (try it out on a friends ca ). But I've heard that air from the intake speeds the fans up quicker than it's supposed to go, and the blades break off and suck into your intake manifold, I've heard of the same thing happening to the "Tornado"). As a matter of fact, some guy put an ad on Ebay warning against these products (both the eRAM and the cheap PVC bilge pumps).
