#43004, "What to do with my money....."

Ok, I'm having a little dilemma right now. I have had plans to go turbo for a while now, and have been saving up for it, but now I'm not so sure. I still want to go turbo eventually, but here's what I'm thinking....

1) New cams, and ECU when (if ever) it comes out for the 96. I would get all the parts for the head so I could use the 8,300 redline. Would the turbo cams do much for a n/t? Would I be able to live with these until I got my turbo?

2) Buy stuff to beef up my engine. I would get new pistons, and all that fun stuff, so I could crank up the boost once I put them in. I would then turbo my car, and when my engine needs repaired, I would put in the forget internals.

3) Go turbo, and start saving up for internals right away. I would get my turbo put on, keep the boost at 5-6 psi, and drive it like that for a while. In the meantime, I would save up for the internals, and eventually get the cams and ECU.

So what do you guys think? 1, 2, or 3? Any opinions are welcome, and will be greatley appreciated. Thanks.

a.) get the turbo kit and worry about the rest later

b.) you can buy me forged internals to put on with my turbokit
and i'll take you for a ride.

i think b is the better choice but you probably wont agree

Since it sounds like you are not in a rush, go for option #2. this way the engine will be ready, the rings will be seated, the pistons properly broken in and all the bugs worked out before you turbo.

well you have more questions to ask yourself.

if you go turbo how much will be left? in my opinion building a motor to be turboed and driving on it NA is going to be a waste of money until you get the turbo on because your going to lose power. i say get boost first. even if it's like a stage 1 just do that and save the rest as a head start on the motor. or buy one and not install it until you can install the rest. e.g. buy all your motor stuff and let it sit until you get money for boost. than once you get your turbo kit you can pull the motor out and have it built than put the turbo on as the motor goes back in the car.

I agree with amish. You don't want to roll around with low compression when you're na.

Mods:
AEM CAI, OBX muffler, Goldline springs, FU/RU STBs, Platinum plugs, Progress camber kit, AFX UDP
To go on:
18" 5 Zigen Copse w/Toyo Proxes

Greddy Evo and HRC Stage 2 coming (not so) soon!! I'm gonna be a daddy!

he didnt say anyhting about low compression, and neither will i. if your going turbo, youve got to make sure your fuel system is on par anyways, i dont see why you would want to lower compression. emoji

PERSONALLY...i would build the engine first because as was started earlier...you know everything is in working order before you turbo. HOWEVER, you might turbo first and never experience any problems, which means you would have wasted money on forged stuff. and even if the engine went caput, you could rebuild then and have put in the same amount of money as the "internals then turbo" scenario.

:shhh: i do cocaine :/shhh:

if i go turbo i'm going to be at 10.5:1. most people don't use high compression pistons on a turbo motor though. that's why i said that
