#42933, "Car's running COLD"

For the past two weeks my car's been running cold! It struggles to warm up to normal temp. The needle does occasionally get up to 1/2 at a long red light, but as soon as I get moving again it starts dipping down... all the way to 1/8th. So far it hasn't caused any inconveniance besides the fact the heater won't blow hot air. Mileage is the same. I dunno, is this something of major concern?

As for background history... I replaced the coolant and thermostat about a month ago because it was overheating. I used a stock 195 degree t-stat and everything was fine up until about two weeks ago. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure your thermostat is broken. Mine did the exact same thing and that was the cause. There really isnt much else that could cause that problem other than a faulty sending unit for your gauge (which also went bad on mine).

Yeah it sounds like your thermostat is sticking open, might want to try and get another one and see if it clears it up for you.

yeah, replace the thermostat and your problems should go away as i had the same symptoms and that was it. It's an $8 dollar part.

Thanks for all the replies. Yeah I kinda figured it might be the thermostat, but it's odd cause I had just replaced it recently. This might be advantageous come summer time and the mercury starts soaring, so is it okay if I drive my car like this? Shouldn't a cold running car should get crappy gas mileage or something?
