shopping for cams. i want the most power i can get without idling real high or stalling when stopping for a light. i'm liking the crower #16. i know the 18 is to much. basically i'm in between on turboed vs NA. i know getting these would eliminate the turbo potential of the motor. if i were to go with an NA setup would this be the best way to go along with some head work like port and polish maybe making the valves a bit larger?
i have a 95 so getting an ECU to support a turbo is out of the question. so i figured even if i did go with boost i'd be better off having a strong NA motor to build boost from because the OE ECU doesn't do to well with high boost and howell is def. not making a 95 ECU, which is understandable.

Make a decision on where you want to take this engine. if you are keeping it n/t, I say "DO THE THING!" Don't fuck around with simple street grinds, go for race (if I recall thats what #16s are right?). you'll regret it if you don't. from what I have been reading, MetalJim seems to be real happy with his cams.
if you are going to be getting a turbo in the future, wait on cams and put your $$ into mods that will support either turbo or n/t.

yeah gary said he wouldn't bother doing it. after 95 cars went OBDII by law. the computers are different so my guess as to his not making one would be because it would be like starting over completely on the project. which means months and months of work/waiting just to sell to 1 production year of car. not worth it really.
i'm still debating what i'm doing. i'm probably going 2.4 with this but turbo or not is undecided. i want boost but no one knows what the 2.4's will do really cause not many people have them. plus i'm building the motor now. who knows when i'll get the money for turbo. i wouldn't want to spend all kinds of money building a turbo motor and have to drive around on a 120hp low compression motor.

I don't see why you would want that ecu if you have a turbo. The only thing that would be truely nice to have is the raised rev limiter. The extra timing advance and leaning characteristics would be a big nuisance. Also, the 1995 cars have a better ecu for turboing than the 96+ cars do. We dont need to worry about map sensor troubles because we wont get fuel cut from it. I had no problems at all with hesitation or anything like that with mine.
