Hi ive notice on friday that my car started smoking under the hood, when i raised the hood i saw smoke coming from the rear of the engine near the firewall on the passenger side. when i look i can see oil on top of the valve cover near the timming belt cover, and also running down the rear of the engine on the timming belt side, and a little in the front also on the same timming belt side. Has anyone experienced this same issue? I f yes please help. Can it be coming from my head bolt being to long or what? Thanx guys. and also my engine is a 420a:

I would check your valve cover gasket first. A valve cover gasket is pretty cheap and easy to replace. As for the head bolt being to long, it is the rear drivers side head bolt.

Yes, check your valve cover gasket, and also you may want to check out your camshaft oil seals. Those are hard to see with the timing belt covers on, so it may help to get a good light and shine it between the timing belt cover and the head, and try and see exactly where the oil is coming from. Hopefully its only the valvecover, cause the cam oil seals are some work to replace.

Best of luck to you! Sure sucks to be us leakers. I go through about 2 qts a month myslef. Just don't keep goin till the light comes on! I check mine every day before I start it. Get some cheapo oil and keep it in the hatch. I'd much rather replace a rear main seal (if that's what it takes) than the entire engine. Bet you would too.
