#42257, "Pistons, Rods, and Rings Upgrade before Turbo Install"

I'm changing a leaky head gasket in the near future, and since I鈥檓 planning on installing a HRC Stage 2 over the summer, I want to upgrade my pistons, rods, and rings. What I need to know is what brands would you recommend? I鈥檓 looking at JE forged pistons, but I鈥檓 not sure what compression. Hastings Rings (both from Howell). Also, are there any alternatives to replacing my stock rods, I would like to save some $ if possible. And finally, what kind of work is going to be required (machine work etc.) to ensure success? I can do most of the labor myself, I鈥檓 just looking for some direction.

Thanks

There are lots of options. The most popular rods are Eagle and Crower. The most popular pistons are JE and Wiesco. I personally went with Eagle rods and JE pistons & rings.

weisco pistons and weisco rings are about 400$ from raceeng.com
eagle rods are about 350$

the full engine gasket kits can be had for forum dodge for 5% above wholesale...

with eagles and weiscos u would have plenty of room for big boost...

Make sure u have the BLOCK properl;y bored over .020 or .040 that ever pistons u buy dont jsut grab std bore ones big mistake.... unless u like rebuilding motors for the hell of it =P

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.
If you want it cheap and good, it's not going to be fast.
If you want it good and fast, it's not going to be cheap.
