#42149, " Dexron III/Mercon ATF"

Quick question for you guys...is Valvoline Dexron/Mercon ATF fluid still compatible with our chrysler tranny besides Valvoline ATF+3 ? reason im asking is because i changed my tranny fluid about a year ago and found out they used dexron/mercon instead of ATF+3. And my tranny doesnt shift properly out and into first gear. The mechanic says its the same thing/brand but, ATF+3 is a synthetic. Is this guy full of B.S.? any help is appreciated. TIA

the proper fluid is mopar manual transaxle fluid its like 15$ a bottle atf+3 is not the proper fluid

the dealer now uses atf+4 but it is only used for cost not for being better then the mopar transaxle fluid...

You can have it cheap, fast or good. Pick any two.

If you want it cheap and fast, it's not going to be good.

The popular opinion is to stay with the dealer atf fluid ONLY!

I do know that several of us are tempting the fates with TrickShift synthetic (some people have to learn the hard way), but I don't suggest this unless you are willing to replace the transmission if everyone is right.
