I just got my transmission rebuilt a few days ago (5speed) new clutch and everything. when i turn the car on i get a ratteling, and it sounds like a bearing. noise goes away after i push clutch in. but everything is new!!! does something need to "wear in" or should i bring it back? if i bring it back i will in about a month (if it breaks it's under warranty and shop will pick up the cost hehehe) i hope. i hope nothing serious is going on here. it usually goes away after driving it for a few min as long as i don't sit in idle with the clutch out.

i don't know what it is, but what ^^^ said is right and take it back now. You don't want them blaiming you for this problem if you wait to long to report it.

thanks, i'm gonna bring it back the next time i go home which is roughly a month from now, little less, three weeks, and when i'm here i don't drive much, i will be driving another 250 back home when i do, do you think they will still take it? it's got a 12 mo warranty.
main shaft bearing? hmmm that seems like the one reason it was there in the first place

If the noise goes away when you push the clutch in then it is the main shaft bearing, not the throw-out bearing. If it were the throw-out bearing, then the noise would happen when you push the clutch in since this is when it makes contact with the pressure plate and spins.

Mine is doing that right now. It's your throw-out bearing. $20, but you gotta rip back into the clutch again. I'm waiting for my clutch to go out before I replace mine for now. It usually happens when the engine is cold. When it's warmed up it goes away.

the noise will intermittantly pop up. it is worst when the car is first turned on. after driving for four hours yesterday it didn't really do it in idle, but if i revved it a bit it would start.
three weeks isn't too long is it? i'm gonna call the guy later this week and tell him i think.

hey thanks, this sucks because the main shaft bearing was supposed to be replaced because that's what was supposed to have been bad in the first place, do shops purposefully fuck things up?
