can't stand it when this happens. just about everytime i go over 4k rpms it will overheat. i checked the antifreeze and it says full. would flushing the radiator stop this? it doesn't go all the way up, like 75% or so. and it warms up pretty fast to. thanks for the help

Thermostats aren't too pricey (I don't think) and I would suggest drainging the coolant in your system (radiator and all). The thermostat is easy to change too.

it's easiest jsut to trial and error a thermostat. they are between 15 and 20 bucks and available at any parts store. it is in the housing on the side of the head that the upper radiator hose hooks up to. jsut take the old one out and put a new one in. see if that works. also check to see if there is water in your oil or oil in your water. that is a bad sign. means head gasket is blown (will also cause overheat)

Bring it on............

well, i'm going to try the thermostat thing and probably flush the system out. don't think it's the headgasket, i just had it in the shop for that and they said the headgasket wasn't even leaking it was the valve cover gasket.

For the $15 of a new one it's not really worth checking your your old thermostat, but if you wanted to check it here's how. Put it in a pot full of water on the stove. Put a thermometer in the pot. Turn the stove on and see what the temperature is when the thermostat opens. Then look to see if it's the same temperature that the thermostat is rated.

Whoa! never though of that pot on the stove thing...
I have a major over-heating problem. i have now for 3 years. noone can figure it out. therms fine, water-pump is working, but the head gasket is leaking. but everytime i get the damn thing fixed it overheates and blows it out again. So therefor i have attributed that MY specific Eclipse is a defective piece of S. and i hate the fact that it costs me 6 to 800 a clip to replace!
I'm so upset and depressed. anbody have a cheap engine to sell me? with all the money i've put into this thing i could have replaced it twice. emoji
