when i floor my car and run it to 6,700 rpms, my car starts pulling hard after about 4k, then about 5,2k it looks on my tach as if the needle speed goes up a little slower, after 6k the engine sounds like all noise.

i know that our cars max hp is at 6k, but shouldnt the tach if not go faster, then at least go up the same speed. it may just be me, but i just needed to ask.

well your car has the "pulling sensation" because our cars have a DOHC which doesnt become proficent till 3k. Now your car pulling past 6k i dont know about.

it has to do with how the car was 'tuned' from the factory.. such as the size of the intake and exhaust and cam timing, they can tune the car to move the power band to different areas.. so if you have a powerband that hits early, it's also going to end early.. such as my zx2, it pulls nice from 4K+ but as soon as you get to around 5800-6K it really runs out of breath, and that's just cause of how the car was tuned from the factory.

when you modify a car all you are mainly doing is re-tuning the car and generally moving that power band to a higher RPM.. which will get you more power, but you loose the low end power some.

What I was really trying to say was my car fells almost like it is running out of breath about 5,7k or higher. Seeing how the peak power is at 6k shouldn't it pull strong until at least 6k?

p&p your intake mani, get a 55mm t/b, and clean your air filter

maybe invest in a udp...

she'll pull to fuel cut if you mod it right....

your peak HP is that high.. not your peak TQ.. I tend to beleive you 'feel' the TQ your motor creates more then the HP.. so that's probably why it 'feels' that way.

Thats exactly right. You feel torque - not horsepower.
