#40614, "exhaust whistles?"

I bought my car a while back, and it has always made a whistling noise once i got up in the rpm range around 4500. i'm pretty sure i have stock exhaust, the only thing it could be is a gst muffler but i HIGHLY doubt it. does anyone else expierience this? personally i like it.

Having Problems? Heres my Three step solution to anything 2gnt related.
Step 1: Put down everything in your hands.
Step 2: Grab a lucky strike, Smoke it.
Step 3: Walk to the fridge, double fist some keystone ice, sit down in the shade, drink one beer, finish cigarette, drink other beer, roll a joint, smoke it, walk back to your problem, and in about 5 minutes the solution will come to you.
If not. Go here: here

If still nothing, your trying to hard. Start over at step 1.

I know exactly what you mean. Mine did that too when I got my car. When I would rev it up real high it would whistle. It was pretty funny. My only guess is it is a exhaust leak somewhere in the catback. I have changed my catback since then and it went away. It won't hurt anything as long as you like the whistle. emoji

My exhaust never whistled. My belt tensioner bearing used to whistle. It sounds like you're pretty sure it's the exhaust, but just in case, here's a link on where to find a cheap replacement for the belt tensioner bearing. http://forums.2gnt.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=5296&forum=DCForumID13&archive=

Oh, and you'll know it's a GS-T exhaust if it has a dual tip muffler.

disregard if you're sure it's the exhaust....
when i first got my car it would whistle quite loud with high rpm's. i thought that was how it was supposed to be, till i found the passenger-side firewall wiring plug pushed in toward the engine. just a thought
